Hey folks! Sergio from Tu Imagen Beauty Salon in Shoreline.

With the holidays just around the corner, it's important to make sure that your hair is taken care of to ensure that it looks its best! With all the parties, events, and family gatherings, you'll want to make sure that you have a great hair day every single time. Here are some top hair care tips for the holidays:

1. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: Dehydration has a major effect on the overall health of our hair. Since we tend to be out and about more during the holidays and may not drink enough water, it is important to ensure you prioritize hydration. Make sure to drink lots of water throughout the day and even wash your hair with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner combo to help lock in moisture. Take extra time for hair care. With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it can be easy to get caught up in everything else and not give your hair the attention it needs. Take a few minutes each day to focus on your hair care, whether it's just giving it a quick brush or applying a restorative treatment. Giving your hair the extra time and attention it needs will ensure it remains looking healthy throughout the holidays.

2.Protect from the Elements: Winter time can be rough on hair. The cold air has a tendency to dry out the strands and scalp. To keep your hair healthy during the colder months, try to keep your hair covered and use a heat-protecting spray when using heat styling tools ( straighteners, curling irons, blow dryers). Invest in some special holiday hats and scarves to protect your hair from wind and cold.  Use protective styling. The winter season can dry out your hair, so using protective styling like braids, buns and twists can go a long way in retaining moisture while protecting your hair from damage due to excessive heat styling. Additionally, many of these styles can double as holiday party looks, adding a festive flair to your look while safeguarding your hair.

3. Deep Condition: Frequent heating and styling can take a toll on our hair. That is why deep conditioning treatments are great for keeping our locks looking and feeling healthy over the holidays. It will help repair damaged hair, reduce split ends and add extra shine and luster. Try to make time for a weekly deep conditioning treatment.  Keep up with hair treatments. While regular treatments like trims and deep-conditioning masks can help maintain healthy hair, the holiday season is an especially good time to restart old hair care routines. Moisturizing masks, protein treatments and scalp exfoliation are all good ways to give your hair some extra love for the holidays. Give yourself time to do these treatments during the days when you’re at rest, and not scrambling around to get everything done.

These treatments can be done at home or you could get a professional treatment at your local beauty spa. They usually last between ten to twenty minutes and can help revitalize hair and get it ready for the upcoming holiday festivities.

Also, try to avoid overuse of products such as hairspray, mousse and gel. These can create build up and dull our hair's natural shine.

Overall, it is important to take care of our hair during the stress of the holiday season. There can be a lot of late nights, long trips and a never ending to-do list. Take time for yourself and make sure you are taking extra care of your hair during this time of year.
